Giant Meteor
Giant Meteor is an ethereal/dreampop/shoegaze project helmed by guitarist Gerry Beyer. With shimmering textures, gauzy melodies, and immersive soundscapes, Giant Meteor feels like the soundtrack to a lucid dream drifting toward the edge of the atmosphere.
The project brings together longtime friends and seasoned collaborators. Beyer reunited with Deborah Warfield, his former bandmate from their college band Tongue. Deborah, currently a keyboardist and vocalist with indie stalwarts Swirlies, also brought her rich experience from her time in Gold Muse. Their creative bond spans over three decades and remains as vital as ever.
Joining them is Carter Hoodless, a classically trained drummer who studied at Oberlin Conservatory. He and Beyer played together in the 2000s band Drywater, and their friendship stretches back more than 30 years, grounding Giant Meteor in a deep musical chemistry.
Rounding out the lineup is Michael Flannery, who plays bass and synth while also handling mixing and production duties. Known for his work with Little-T and One Track Mike, the beloved children’s project The Flannery Brothers, and a vibrant solo career, Michael brings a finely tuned ear and pop sensibility to the project. He currently teaches music at Stevens Institute of Technology, bridging his creative life with a dedication to musical education.
With its debut release, Giant Meteor captures the feeling of beauty colliding with chaos—otherworldly yet deeply personal. The band is a convergence of musical lifetimes, long friendships, and shared sonic vision.
